Connecting People with Place

Integrating Art and Infrastructure

Belfast is a City which is rich in history and heritage, spanning maritime, the arts, sport, science, industry, materials and transport to name a few.

Some of this heritage, and the many narratives that accompany it, are known, and some, form part of Belfast’s best-kept secrets. The purpose and drive of the Belfast Grand Central Station Arts and Heritage Strategy is to unlock these stories, realise them, and give them a platform from which to be told to the world, and also, and perhaps more importantly, to the person just next door.

Translink, through this transport led regeneration project, is committed to developing a place making strategy with the aim to:

  • Improving the quality of life
  • Promoting inclusion and celebrating diversity
  • Contributing to regeneration and prosperity

The place making strategy will give an opportunity to integrate art and infrastructure, giving local stories a real platform to sustain the very fabric of the local communities. To enthuse people about this new destination while at the same time giving them an opportunity to appreciate the great wealth of heritage that still lives at the heart of this place, a place for everyone to enjoy, to live in, to invest and to learn from.
