Our Vision
Appointment
Translink has selected developer MRP as its Private Sector Partner for Belfast’s transformational Weavers Cross development.
As the appointed master-development partner, MRP will deliver the Weavers Cross development with the potential for 1.5 million sqft. of mixed-use office, life sciences, residential, hotels and retail/leisure space, presenting a unique opportunity to transform and regenerate a current brownfield site and create a new destination in the heart of the city.
The development wraps a Northern Ireland Executive flagship project, Belfast Grand Central Station, making Weavers Cross a genuinely transport-led regeneration project, located in the very heart of the city. With construction of the station completed in 2024, Belfast Grand Central Station is now the island of Ireland’s largest integrated and sustainable transport hub, with direct bus, coach, and/or train links to the rest of Northern Ireland, to all major international airports and across the UK’s only European land border, to Dublin.
A truly unequalled opportunity
Weavers Cross is widely recognised as a key driver for major infrastructure, economic and social improvements across Belfast. What’s more, it is considered one of the most important commercial opportunities in Northern Ireland for the next 15 years – making this a truly unequalled opportunity.
The Belfast Agenda is the city’s Community Plan, last updated in 2024, and comprising the five strategic themes that will deliver on our city’s progressive ambitions. The development of Weavers Cross will contribute hugely to each of these key themes, fundamentally contributing to Our Economy, Our Place, Our Planet, Our People & Communities and Our Compassionate City.
In September 2024, the Northern Ireland Executive agreed a draft Programme of Government to outline the priorities that will make a range of positive differences to the lives of everyone in Northern Ireland. These nine priorities are underpinned by three core missions. The development of Weavers Cross will contribute hugely to each of these key missions of supporting and developing our People, Planet and Prosperity.
Within a few minutes’ walk of the commercial, retail and hospitality centre of Northern Ireland’s capital city, Weavers Cross is also within an established ‘Eds & Meds’ innovation arc and is closely integrated with local communities that are ready and willing to grow.
Located at the very heart of Weavers Cross itself will be Translink’s new Hub – a high-tech focal point for bus, rail and active travel that will cater for 20 million passenger journeys annually.
Belfast Grand Central Station will act as a powerful engine for energy and growth, bringing in people from all over the island by train and bus, including across the UK’s only land border with the European Union.

With Belfast Grand Central Station catalyst at its heart, Weavers Cross will itself, act as the catalyst for the regeneration of the wider area within south and west Belfast. It will transform the lives of local communities, citizens and visitors alike, providing commercial returns, placemaking and positive social and environmental impacts.
This new city neighbourhood will provide a high quality, dynamic and imaginative mixed use development and will represent an exciting step-change in terms of quality, inclusiveness and outcomes for large mixed-use development schemes in Northern Ireland. The connected location, the energy and the quality of buildings and public spaces, coupled with the drive for innovation and sustainability, will inspire those who work and live there, capitalising on local assets and improving the quality of life and opportunities for everyone.
Weavers Cross is widely recognised as a key driver for major infrastructure, economic and social improvements right across Belfast and is rightly considered one of the most important opportunities in Northern Ireland for the next 15 years.
