Prior to the submission of the full planning application for the new transport hub, Translink engaged in pre application public consultation.
The wide ranging consultation process involved an extensive range of stakeholders from many sectors including, landowners, community groups, local businesses, interest groups, Translink passengers and interested individuals, along with extensive on-going community engagement. The process took place over a number of key stages.
The proposals under consultation comprised detailed plans for the new Belfast Transport Hub facility and conceptual masterplan proposals for the surrounding development sites. The full planning application for the detailed transport hub proposals was submitted in June 2016. The outline planning application for the conceptual masterplan proposals are due to be submitted in Spring 2018 following further public and community consultation.
Throughout the extensive consultation period, stakeholders expressed many opinions and views on the transport hub proposals and stakeholder responses led directly to amendments to the proposals which were submitted in the full planning application.
