Translink was delighted to recently welcome 200 Civil Engineering and Project Management students to Belfast Grand Central Station from Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast and University of Galway as part of a Welcome Week session supported by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT).
Students were given a site tour, before getting to try out a Virtual Reality model of Belfast Grand Central Station. They were also able to network with Translink colleagues, contractors and professional service teams regarding future career opportunities.
Duncan McAllister, Head of Weavers Cross and Belfast Grand Central Station Programmes for Translink said
“We’re thrilled to be able to host this number of future civil engineers – ‘world changers’, here on site. It’s a great opportunity to show case the truly transformational project that is Belfast Grand Central Station and the wider Weavers Cross regeneration project. The build is the largest infrastructure project on the island of Ireland at the moment and to be able to share that with students just starting out on their engineering journey is something very special. An experience they will all remember, and one which will inspire them to take what we have done and do it better in the future ”
